by inviting book lovers to

educational programs

 

The Home of the Books library tour 

During the tour children will be introduced to the activity of the Children's department, the book fund, periodicals and find out how to become a reader. They will also create their own bookmarks and visit other departments of the library.

The program is intended for preschoolers and first-second graders.

Average length 45 min.

 

Meet the LIBRARY tour 

During the tour children will be introduced to the activity of the Children's department, the book fund and periodicals. They will also visit other departments of the library and the library's museum, where they will be introduced to the life and works of the book smuggler Jurgis Bielinis. The tour will be finished by creating a collage and solving a crossword puzzle about the library.

The program is intended for children of all ages.

Creative myrioram workshops Reading differently 

Myriorams provide a different — creative — way of reading books. Book reading becomes a creative workshop, which involves versatile education: developing reading and communication skills, vocabulary, imagination, thinking and creative skills.

The program is intended for children of all ages.

Interactive audible reading afternoons

Educational program for those, who like to listen to faery tales read by someone. During the program children will illustrate, re-enact faery tales and play.

The program is intended for children of all ages.

Average length 45 min.

The Readers' Service Department introduces the educational program

 

The Transformation of a Book 

The program is intended for 5th-12th grade students. One lesson can be attended by up to 25 students.

During the lesson the students will get to know the history of books, beginning with stone and clay tablets, papyrus, parchment and manuscripts to printed and electronic books.

During the practical part of the lesson the students will learn to tie quipu knots and use electronic book readers.

Length of the lesson — 45-50 min.

The detailed content of the educational program depends on the age of the participants.
